WHO WE ARE.
Picture
Melanie Black, Lead Vocalist. Melanie is a Cape Cod native who's been singing all her life in vocal jazz ensembles, chorus, musical theater, a capella, and in the car. Melanie is from Centerville and also teaches yoga and manages the Centerville Yoga & Wellness Center. Melanie's style is laid back, versatile, and she brings a fun and positive energy to each song. She's currently living in Somerville, MA and is attending nursing school at Northeastern University.

Patrick McDonough, Guitar. Born and raised on Cape Cod, Patrick has been playing local venues since he was 14. Patrick currently works as a composer and film scorer, which includes his contributions to the film Ship of Fools which has been accepted into the prestigious 2014 Cannes Film Festival. When not in the studio, Patrick jumps at the opportunity to play live, and is pleased to be back on stage with long-time friend Melanie Black, who played their first show together in 2001. When it comes to style, versatility is the name of the game for Patrick, who is both classically trained in guitar and proficient in jazz, blues, and Latin genres. Patrick's performances are energetic, tasteful and leave little to be desired.

Lars Stone, Bass. Lars has been part of the music scene for many years. He has worked with music projects that have shared the stage with “Junior Walker and the All-stars”, John Hammond Jr, Buddy Guy and Junior Wells, Queen Ida and the Zydeco Band, B.B. King, Wilson Picket, and Albert King. He has done music sessions with the Boston's legendary musician/producer and “Tower of Power” member Ellis Hall, rock icon Bob Seger's drummer Pep Perine, and the Boston soul review, "The Hypnotics". Lars has worked tours throughout Florida, New England, and New York City. He describes his style of playing as, “lock in with the drums, because that is where the action is in all great musical entities!”

Drew Buckley, Drums. When Drew was 5, he went kite-flying with his parents. All of a sudden a huge gust of wind came and the boy, who would not let go of his favorite Ninja Turtles kite, was swept off his feet. He landed deep within the Great Forests of Cape Cod, where he was taken in by a pack of coyotes who treated him like one of their own. Drew adopted their ways and learned to communicate with the coyotes using drums. Drew rose in ranks among the coyotes by becoming most fierce hunter in the pack. In 2001, Drew was discovered by Filmmaker James Cameron, who happened to be on a spirit journey looking for inspiration. Drew's amazing story would become the basis for Cameron's Avatar. It was tough for Drew at first, but eventually acclimated with society by watching Full House re-runs. Drew has kept up his drumming as a way of remembering his coyote brethren who saved his life. In March 2014, Melanie, Patrick and Lars took Drew to the beach to help him overcome his fear of kites by teaching him how to use one properly. Ever since, their band has been called 'Kite School.'
